MEET OUR TEAM

We unite parents from all backgrounds, races, and socio-economic groups to represent our wonderfully diverse community because together we can be a force for good.

  • Lindsey is a Salt Lake City native, a Uintah Elementary, Clayton Junior High and East High alumn. She currently resides in SLCSD and has 5 children ages 3-12. Lindsey loves Salt Lake City schools because of the diverse community and opportunities such diversity offers. “The best thing about the district is the racial, economic and social diversity. It’s time to embrace these differences and use them to our advantage. Use these differences to build each other up and create more dynamic, highly-educated and well-rounded students.”

Lindsey is an active community member, volunteer and is familiar with non-profit work. She has served since 2009 in her community church organization located in Bonneville Heights, participated on the fundraising committee 2016-2020 for ‘Amanaki Fo’ou, been involved with various charitable organizations and held multiple PTA positions in her local school for the past six years.

She is dedicated to strengthening the district and looking for long-term success by improving educational opportunities for all students in the district.

  • Michele Thompson was born and raised in Salt Lake City, attended Ensign Elementary, Bryant Middle School and graduated from East High School. She earned a BA in Communication from the University of Utah. She spent nine years as an Associate Producer/Producer at KSL Television. Her work included producing public service announcements, documentaries, and a morning news and public affairs program.

Michele and her husband, Eric, are the parents of four children, all who have attended or are still attending SLCSD schools. She has spent the last 20 years volunteering in schools – as a member of the PTA, in the classroom, and supporting her children’s extracurricular activities.

Michele is optimistic PIE SLC can be a positive force in advocating for our students, ensuring their education is top priority with the board, administrators, and educators - something she feels has been lacking in recent years. She believes our district should attract the best teachers, who in turn, inspire our students to take advantage of the best learning opportunities in the state. All students in our district should have every opportunity to excel and succeed.

  • Whitney Foley believes this rising generation of youth has more talent, more energy, more opportunities and more potential than any other generation on the planet.

She and her husband moved their four children to Salt Lake in 2016 from her hometown of Aspen, CO. Since then, Whitney has become an advocate for improving learning experiences for all children by focusing on experiential and outdoor education.

“I believe our youth need new ways to experience learning in order to build meaningful relationships and to solidify knowledge. They also need innovative ways to demonstrate their knowledge, share their bright ideas and develop their voices so they can inspire others.”

Whitney knows we can eliminate achievement gaps, inequities and barriers to access by offering high-quality, hands-on learning experiences, and she’s eager to work with parents, non-profits, community leaders, government leaders and education leaders to make this happen.
